The Center has recently approved an additional amount of Rs. 3045 crores for the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 project. This development comes as a significant boost to the city’s transportation infrastructure. When we consider both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Bengaluru Metro, the Center has sanctioned a total of Rs. 16,484.40 crore so far. However, the situation with the Telangana Metro project is quite different. Telangana had provided Rs. 1,204 crores for Phase 1 of its metro system, but when it sought funding for Phase 2, the Center did not extend its support. This discrepancy highlights the contrasting approaches taken by the Center towards the metro projects in Bengaluru and Telangana.
